A 16 years old Eta Katherine of Childville School, Ogudu GRA, Lagos, Nigeria has emerged the third place winner and was the only African champion winner in the 2017 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship hosted in Disneyland, California, USA.
Childville pupil, Katherine Eta, whose attendance at the MS World championship was with support from Zenith Bank Plc. in this year’s contest.
Participants that emerged first and second positions respectively at the competition are Wai Feng from Hong Kong and Chi Kei from Macao.
The 2017 MS World Competition in versions 2013 and 2016 of the Microsoft programs was contested worldwide by about 1.1m students from 140 countries. 157 pupils from 50 countries eventually qualified to compete in the world finals held in Disneyland, California, USA.
According to a statement on Thursday disclosed that Zenith Bank Plc. had partnered ReadAmana, organisers of the competition in Nigeria since 2007, and sponsored Nigerian winners’ participation in the MS World championship.
According to the disclosure, Katherine’s effort got her cash award of $1,500, a NuVision Solo 10 Draw Tablet at the MS world championship and another N750,000 from ReadManna Chairman’s star Prize.

Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship is a global competition that tests pupils’ skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and organized annually.
Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship is open to all pupils aged between 13 and 22 years and enrolled in an academic institution.
