Dogara urges Nigerian youths to see opportunity in agriculture-economy

The increase in youth unemployment in Nigeria is on the high increase coupled with economy recession bewildering the state of the nation.

The federal government has pledges to diversify the country economy from oil to agriculture.

This diversification of the country economy to agriculture receives several supports from the local and international experts.

The Speaker of House of Representative, Mr. Yakubu Dogara has further called and pleaded with Nigerian youths in the country to utilize and embrace the opportunity offer to them through agriculture as a means of sustainable means of livelihood.

Mr. Yakubu Dogara made this call to the youths at the launching of distribution of 2,100 bags of fertiliser for Yamaltu-Deba constituents in Lubo, Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State on Saturday 10 June 2017.

The speaker Dogara further urges youths to embrace agriculture-economy as means of empowerment, engagement and prosperity for livelihood.

It was further disclosed that the 2,100 bags of fertiliser was donated by Alhaji Abubakar Yunus, the member representing Yamaltu-Deba Federal constituency in the National Assembly.

The Speaker of House of Representative was further quoted as follows, “I am calling on the youths, to embrace Agriculture as means of livelihood”

“This is in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s policy of revamping agriculture.

“When we see a member doing well, it is our duty to support and promote him.

“We need to have people like him, who can always speak for Gombe and North East, I always call him one of the defendants of the 8th Assembly.

‘This is the kind of representative we want, we can speak for him anytime anywhere.”

Alhaji Abubakar Yunus, the member representing Yamaltu-Deba Federal constituency in the National Assembly also commended the President Buhari led federal government for diversifying the country’s economy to agriculture.

Alhaji Abubakar further stated that members of his constituency are predominantly farmers, hence the need for the fertiliser assistance and other facility disbursement to them.

That the 2,100 bags of fertilisers dispersed to farmers were brought to the town in three and the half trailers and each of the trailers contained 600 bags.

Mr. Yakubu Dogara, Speaker of House of Representatives concluded his address by stating that the wealthy persons in the society who were constructing mansions, should also invest in Agriculture so that the common man can have food on his table and also be gainfully employed and contribute to the larger society.

He further urged the state and federal government not to relent in supporting grassroots farmers in country and create enabling environment for the youths interested in farming to have access to free interest loan.
