Huawei commission skill acquisition and development centre for youth in Lagos

HuaweiThe foremost technology giant in Nigeria, Huawei Tech in conjunction with Fortis Projects Services commissioned a newly built Funmilayo Mobolaji Johnson Skill Acquisition and Development Centre Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos state.

The skill acquisition center was donated to the Lagos State Government to ameliorate unemployment, alleviate poverty and empower the youths in Lagos state.

The skill acquisition centre was commissioned by the wife of the Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode.

The newly built Funmilayo Mobolaji Johnson Skill Acquisition and Development Centre in the local government would pay special attention to the youths from the host community by creating youth oriented programmes, such as knowledge acquisition, catering skill, art and craft, hat making, bead making, hairdressing, fashion designing, photography, fridge and air conditioner maintenance, leather works, wood and carpentry, adult literacy, cosmetology and computer training programmes.

While addressing the participants, Prince Babatunde Ayo Ayeni, the Sole Administrator of Eti-Osa East Local Community Development Area (LCDA), stated that the Funmilayo Mobolaji Johnson Skill Acquisition and Development Centre represented an alternative means of livelihood for the people in the community.

From the angle of the donor, Mr. Richard Dotun Adebayo, Executive Director at Fortis Group also disclosed to the participants that the completion of the newly built centre stand as a symbol for the beginning of a new dawn for the youths of Eti-Osa local government area and the host community.

Mr. Richard Dotun Adebayo said as follows, “The project is here to empower you become all that you hope to become in life. You have the opportunities to break boundaries, cross the line and reach new heights.”

Further more, the Managing Director of Huawei Technologies, Mr. Frank Li disclosed that the company would continue to contribute to play its corporate social responsibility  in empowering youths in skill acquisition.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Lola Akande also reteirates ttha the centre would enable the womenfolk contribute to the economic development of the nation.

All the participants praised Huawei Technologies and Fortis Projects for the initiative and urged all private organizations to give back to the society in the area of performing their corporate social responsibility.
