MASSOB, IPON and Nigeria, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) will continue to exercise, implement and execute law and order, protection of lives and property in the country in accordance with the laws of the land and the 1999 Nigeria Constitution irrespective of ethnicity.
In consonant with the above, the Nigeria Police Force on Friday 26 May 2017 vehemently put caveat and warned the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the Biafra Independence Movement (BIM), against their purported strategic protests and market closure to cause fracas in Nigeria on May 30, 2017.
This disclosure was made by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), spokesman, CSP Jimoh Moshood, in a brief statement in Abuja, that NPF Commissioners in the red alert states in the country and Assistant Inspectors-General of Police have been directed to be strict, polite, civil and firm in dealing with developing situation in the affected states in view.
CSP Jimoh Moshood further stated as follows, “renewed hostilities and subversive propagandas aimed at undermining law and order in some states of the federation by these groups.
“The force sees the activities of these groups as not only unlawful, but highly provocative and capable of causing breach of the peace being enjoyed in the South East states and other states of the federation.
“The planned protests and orders of market closure and illegal unilateral self imposed restrictions of vehicular movements by these groups in the affected states should be disregarded by Nigerians.”
“The force will continue to carry out its constitutional duties and other statutory responsibilities in accordance with the law of the land.”
The CSP further urges the general public not to live in psychological trauma or apprehension.
That the general public should go about doing their genuine, lawful daily duties without exercising fear over security of lives and properties in the country.
The Nigeria policemen are well trained to curtain any pandemonium caused by any unlawful group of people.
That the Nigeria Police Force will protect every citizen in the country without sentiment, bias, and Nigeria policemen would not succumb and tolerate criminal activities.
