Muslims in Nigeria will commence there Ramadan fasting on Saturday 27 May 2017.
Nigeria, Kano state government has proposed N300 million for the annual Ramadan free feeding fasting-break programme.
The free feeding programme by the Kano state government is aim to assist the poor and impecunious people in the state to break their fast during the fasting month of Ramadan.
The Principal Private Secretary to Kano State Government of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and Chairman of the Ramadan free feeding programme, Malam Ibrahim Kankarofi, disclosed this at a meeting with coordinators of the feeding centres at Kano State Government House on Friday 26 May 2017.
Malam Ibrahim Kankarofi, stated as follows
That Kano state government had made adequate preparations to ensure the success of the programme across the 44 local government areas of the state.
That Kano state government has approved additional menu including Spaghetti and Macaroni as well as other items.
He urged fellow Muslims in the state to complement government effort as the free feeding programme was aimed at assisting the poor in the state.
He also pleaded with the feeding programme coordinators to ensure prompt distribution of the meals to the right people.
Malam Ibrahim Kankarofi furthers concluded on the note that the state government warned that anyone found diverting the food items would be appropriately punished accordingly.
