Political office holder impeachment is not new in the world political dictionary. Several politicians impeached and some threatened to be impeached.
Today, Nigerians witnessed another political impeachment of the Delta State House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Monday Igbuya impeached from office.
His impeachment came in early this morning at the state house of assembly while a newly appointed Speaker by majority of the House Members, Sheriff Oborevwori from Okpe Constituency in Delta State presided over the affairs of the State House of Assembly.
The ground of the speaker impeachment was over breach of office trust and allegations of financial indiscipline and misappropriation.
With immediate effect a new speaker was sworn in as the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, the Deputy Speaker, Mr Friday Osanebi presided over the daily preliminary of the assembly while the now impeached ex-speaker, Monday Igbuya and Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly, Tim Owhofere was also sacked.
Youthrevolutionary team members disclosed that the state house commence sitting on or about 7:10am which was against the usual sitting hour of the house which usually commence at about 10am for preliminary sitting by the House, and was fully attended by members excluding the impeached principal officers who were absent.
It was further disclosed that members of the house of Assembly also suspended the impeached Mr. Monday, the ex-speaker for three (3) months while the former Majority Leader was also suspended indefinitely.
The ex-Majority Leader was replaced by Mr. Johnson Erijo.
At the close of business of the preliminary sitting for today, the newly sworn in Speaker proceeded to Government House to intimate the Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, of the changed in the house leadership and unfolding event.
