The federal government of Nigeria has vowed to diversify the nations economic from oil to agriculture.
Lagos State Government disclosed that more than 20,000 farmers in Lagos State have been empowered and also benefited from the N25bn fund through the Lagos State Employment Trust fund.
Addressing journalists, the Chairman, All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Lagos State chapter, Mr. Femi Oke, disclosed that the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) was set-up by the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund Law 2016 to provide financial support to residents of Lagos State for wealth creation and to tackle unemployment in the state.
Participants and beneficiaries of the fund expressed their appreciation to the Governor of Lagos State, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for the law well implemented and empowering the resident of Lagos State by providing sustainable fund for them to kick start their own business.
Mr. Femi Oke, Chairman, All Farmers Association of Nigeria, Lagos State chapter, further thanked the government and the state Ministry of Agriculture for allowing farmers to benefit from the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF).
That it was the best scheme so far, adding that the loan came with a flat interest rate of five per cent per annum and was easy to access.
“It is very easy to access and the interest rate is very cheap. The governor made sure the programme got to the grass roots and promised that he would do more for us in the area of land,”
Beneficiaries of the fund were therefore urged to utilize the fund for the purpose it is meant for.
