She started from a humble beginning; she started her education at St. Teresa College, in Ibadan, South-West of Nigeria in 1960 to 1964, through both Federal School of Arts and Science Lagos in 1965 to 1967 and Temple School Secretariat Washington DC in 1968 to 1969, culminating in B.Sc. Business Administration at the University of Lagos in 1972 to 1975. Evelyn Oputu was also at the Harvard Business School, Boston, in 1987 where she obtained a Diploma in Mass General Management.

Earlier, between 1982 and 1990, at the International Merchant Bank, she operated through Treasury and Financial Division, Corporate Finance Division, the Capital Market, as well as the Project and Financial advisory service areas.

In 1991 to 1992, Evelyn Oputu became an Executive Director, First Bank of Nigeria Plc in which her main assignment spanned all technical aspects of the Bank’s operations.

Dr. Evelyn Ndali Oputu served as the Chief Executive Officer, Managing Director and Director of Bank of Industry Limited from December, 2005 to April 17, 2014. Dr. Oputu began banking career in 1976 with ICON Merchant Bank Ltd. and joined International Merchant Bank (IMB) in 1982 where she was appointed General Manager IMB Securities in 1989 and Executive Director in 1990. Dr. Oputu served as Executive Director at First Bank of Nigeria Plc between 1991 and 1997 and later ran her manufacturing business. Dr. Oputu is a Nominee Director of United Nigerian Textiles Limited. Dr. Oputu is an alumnus of the University of Lagos and the Harvard Business School.

Between 1997 and 2005, this woman of humane and financial discipline was chairman and CEO of KES products limited which is a medium-sized manufacturing company engaged in polyethylene blown films and polypropylene lines of packaging for industrial and domestic uses.

She has been at the helms of the affairs of BOI in the last three years and still waxing strong.
